Services Offered:
Serving Our Community Since 1949
For more than 75 years, Bellefonte EMS has proudly provided trusted, professional ambulance service to our neighbors in the Bellefonte area and beyond. Our team operates three Pennsylvania Department of Health–licensed Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances, with at least one unit staffed in-house around the clock to ensure rapid response to 911 emergencies. Additional ambulances are staffed during peak demand by our dedicated on-duty and off-duty crews.
In addition to emergency response, we provide non-emergency ambulance transports for patients with a qualifying medical need between hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and other healthcare locations. Answering nearly 2,000 calls each year, Bellefonte EMS is one of the busiest and most relied-upon EMS agencies in Centre County.
Para-Transit Wheelchair Van:
Safe, Comfortable, and Affordable Transportation
Bellefonte EMS operates three PUC-licensed wheelchair vans designed for safe, reliable, non-emergency transportation. These vehicles serve individuals who use a wheelchair, need assistance getting around, or require a stretcher but do not need medical evaluation, monitoring, or treatment during the trip.
Our para-transit service offers a cost-effective alternative to an ambulance for those traveling to scheduled doctor visits, rehabilitation or therapy sessions, outpatient procedures, or for discharge from the hospital. Whether it’s across town, across the county, or regionally our trained staff ensures every passenger rides in comfort, dignity, and safety.
Special Event Medical Coverage
From Friday night lights to community celebrations, Bellefonte EMS is proud to keep our neighbors safe at some of the region’s biggest events. For many years, we’ve provided dedicated ambulance coverage for home football games with the Bellefonte and Bald Eagle School Districts, as well as at Beaver Stadium for Penn State University.
Our crews also stand ready at a variety of local activities, including lacrosse games, charity walks, 5k runs, and bike rides, karate tournaments, and major community gatherings like the Bellefonte Cruise Car Show and the Bellefonte Arts & Crafts Fair. Wherever the community comes together, Bellefonte EMS is there to provide professional, on-site emergency medical support.
